curious gravy

*unique hand printed note cards * adventures in cooking * and some other stuff*

I started the curious gravy website in November of 2008.  It began as a blog about setting up my studio but over the holidays I found myself writing more and more about the things I was cooking.  I didn’t want to stop documenting the progress I was making with print making but was having a lot of fun writing about what was going on in the kitchen too.  I decided to run two simultaneous blogs.  One dedicated to each pursuit.

The Cook Blog has been a huge motivator .  Since I started this site, I have tried to cook something new everyday.  I have learned how to make bread, pizza, and ice cream.  Have mastered the art of roasting a chicken and really improved my baking skills.  The Cook Blog has encouraged me to use new ingredients and try new things - I eat foods now that I would never have tried if it wasn’t for this experiment.

The Studio Blog remains a way for me to document the process of starting a small business. I preview card designs here and occasionally include sources of inspiration.  The Studio Blog is a really valuable tool for me because I use it as a venue for self critique - seeing something on a screen changes the way I look at it, allows me to be more objective.

curiousgravy.com is about a year old.  It’s changed a lot since I started it and I suspect that it will change again.  It is after all, a work in progress.
